AvaBaby's Micro Preemie, Preemie & Baby Clothes

I am the grandmother of Ava. During our ordeal I found I needed to spend way to much valuable time looking for clothes to fit our micro girl. I would search the internet for hours and only find a few items scattered here and there, all of which I have brought together for you here.

I saw a need 4 years ago, but it wasn't until the birth of my second premature grandchild, a little boy named Cash that I decided to do something about it. Our little Cash managed to stay put quite a bit longer than his now big sister Ava and arrived 7 weeks early. Being a little boy though, he decided to stay in the NICU for awhile even though he weighed 5.6 lbs at birth. Trying to find a few little things for him to wear continued to be very difficult, still not the size you can just go pick up at the mall. It was then that I decided to do something about it and AvaBaby's was born.

Another desire I have is to be able to help families in need. In our NICU experience we realized that by far the vast majority of infants in the NICU belonged to lower income families. It is likely that the financial position of the families may have gotten them there in the first place because they can not always afford the very best in medical care. Sometimes these families don't even have any transportation to come and visit their little ones. Being able to dress their child under these circumstances is a luxury they just can not afford.

So I have an idea. I live very close to several NICUs, one is one of the busiest NICUs in the country with 60 regular NICU beds and more when they overflow onto another floor. If I can get your help, I would be willing to deliver your already gently used preemie clothes to these hospitals so that they can be offered to those in need who would not doubt appreciate and love to have them.

If you are in a position to help out, please email me at avabays@hotmail.com so that we can make arrangements to help these families dress their little ones, a simple joy every parent should experience.

Now, follow along as I tell Ava's story at: AvaBaby's Journal

This is Ava shortly after her eyes opened on her silky soft blanket. The diaper she is wearing is the same one that is pictured on the home page.......
