A preemie's nervous system is even more immature at birth then a full term baby. They have been taken from their cozy little nest far to soon. Their tiny bodies are hyper sensitive to nearly all stimulus. Because of this they often wake themselves due to the startle reflex. Sometimes just life outside the womb is terribly distressing in itself. The Woombie is designed to act somewhat like the womb from which they came. It is made of a very soft and very stretchy fabric so your preemie can wiggle around a bit, yet feel secure as they did in their mommy's womb.
